BT Great City Games, Manchester
The BT Great CityGames Manchester brings world class athletics to the city’s streets.
The event took place on the Great CityGames track on Deansgate in the heart of the city and at the purpose built athletics arena in Albert Square.
The BT Great CityGames Manchester provided a unique opportunity to see top athletes from across the globe compete in an urban environment.
Many of the greatest athletes in the world have graced the track including Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Jess Ennis and Greg Rutherford.
The event is part of a great weekend of sport in Manchester, which included the Junior & Mini Great Manchester Run, also on Saturday and the Great Manchester Run, Europe’s biggest 10k.
A crowd of 20,000 gathered to see some of the world’s greatest athletes compete, including Olympic, World Championship and European Championship medalists.
This exciting event brought athletics out of the stadium and into the streets, giving fans the opportunity to get close to the action.
Firefly provided biodiesel generators running on WVO (waste vegetable oil), by doing so, this meant the Great City Manchester games was a carbon neutral powered event.
